About DTF Printing Technology
Our Story
We were among the first businesses in the UK to adopt Direct to Film printing technology back in 2020, when most of the garment decoration industry hadn't heard of DTF and the few who had were sceptical. At the time, DTF was largely confined to parts of Asia and a handful of early adopters in Europe. We saw the potential early, invested in equipment and supplies before there was an established UK market, and started printing.
Over the past six years, we've had a front-row seat to the entire evolution of DTF printing in the UK. We watched it go from a niche curiosity that nobody trusted to one of the most versatile and cost-effective garment decoration methods available. We've lived through every phase - the early days of unreliable hardware, the trial-and-error of finding consumables that actually worked, the gradual improvements in film coatings, ink formulations, and adhesive powders, and the explosion of interest as word spread about what DTF could do.
That journey gave us something that's genuinely hard to replicate: deep, practical knowledge built over thousands of hours of real production printing. We haven't just read about DTF or sold supplies from a catalogue - we've printed with dozens of different films, tested inks from manufacturers across Europe and Asia, experimented with powder types and curing temperatures, and solved virtually every problem that DTF printers encounter. When white ink started clogging after two days, we figured out why. When film wouldn't peel cleanly, we found better sources. When transfers cracked after washing, we adjusted our process until they didn't.
From DTF Printers to DTF Suppliers
For the first few years, we were exclusively a DTF printing operation. The supply side happened organically. Other printers in the UK kept asking where we sourced our consumables because their own supplies were inconsistent - film that was fine one batch and unusable the next, ink that settled too fast, powder that clumped in humid conditions. We'd already done the hard work of vetting manufacturers, building relationships with factories, and testing products under real production conditions, so we started offering the same supplies to other businesses.
That's still how we operate today. Every product in our shop is something we use in our own DTF production. If a product causes us problems - whether that's inconsistent coating, poor colour reproduction, or adhesion failures - we stop using it and we certainly don't sell it. Our DTF film is EU-manufactured because that's what we chose for our own workplace after comparing it against cheaper alternatives. Our ink and adhesive powder come from suppliers we've worked with for years, not the cheapest option we could find last month.
What Six Years of DTF Printing Taught Us
Six years in DTF printing gives you perspective that's impossible to shortcut. We've tested hundreds of products, from budget films shipped directly from factory floors to premium European formulations. We've run side-by-side comparisons on different ink brands, documented wash durability across fabric types, and optimised heat press settings through hundreds of test runs.
We've also made every mistake worth making. Bought film that looked great on paper but curled the moment ink hit it. Used ink that printed beautifully but washed out after three cycles. Tried powder from a dozen suppliers before finding formulations that melted evenly and bonded reliably. Every one of those failures taught us something, and that accumulated knowledge now shapes which products we stock and the advice we give to customers.
That hands-on experience is what sets us apart from suppliers who've entered the DTF market more recently. We're not guessing which products are good based on spec sheets - we know from years of daily use. Our DTF printing guides aren't written from theory; they're drawn from problems we've actually encountered and solved in our own production.
How We Can Help
Whether you're just getting started with DTF printing or you've been running a production operation for years, we're here to help. Our support comes from people who print every day - not from a call centre working off a script. If you're battling white ink clogging, dealing with poor film adhesion, or trying to figure out why your transfers aren't lasting through washes, we've almost certainly dealt with the same issue ourselves.
Not sure which supplies are right for your setup? Request a free DTF film sample and test it with your own printer and ink before committing to a purchase. Or get in touch - we aim to respond within 24 hours and we'll give you a straight answer based on what we've seen work in six years of DTF production.
